The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez anticipates offering at least one tenure track faculty position in Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Statistics, or Math Education to begin in July 1st, 2021. Minimum qualifications include having completed a doctoral degree in Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Statistics, or Math Education, or the expectation of its completion before the start of the appointment. Special consideration will be given to candidates in Statistics and Computer Science. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

Applicants should have a strong commitment to teaching and research potential; and should demonstrate a good publication record in peer reviewed journals. Duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and “conduct” or “perform” research. Initiative and leadership is expected. Interest in interacting with faculty in other research areas in the department and/or university would be desirable. Numerous opportunities exist for collaboration with faculty from across the College of Art and Sciences, the College of Engineering, the College of Business Administration and the College of Agricultural Sciences. Classes at the University are taught in Spanish or English. Applicants should submit a plan which outlines their short- and long-term teaching and research goals. In addition, this research proposal should outline how the applicant expect to bring in external funding for teaching and/or research. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
